CMiC and JE Dunn team to complete 'One Dunn' project

CMiC, a provider of software solutions for the construction industry, and JE Dunn Construction Company, the tenth-largest general building contractor in the United States, announced the successful completion of the One Dunn initiative, in which CMiC helped JE Dunn convert and consolidate all current system data so JE Dunn could merge 5 operating companies into one. The One Dunn initiative standardizes process, including project management, payroll, accounts payable, logistics and accounts receivable, across JE Dunn’s 18 offices and has made security and the maintenance of roles easier.

"In these challenging economic times, the efficiencies gained by streamlining processes allows JE Dunn to deliver to all of its clients the most cost effective construction projects possible," said John Jacobs, CIO of JE Dunn Construction Company.

An 18 month endeavor, The JE Dunn team spent six months determining needs, reviewing and then standardizing processes. Once CMiC became involved, the two teams used CMiC’s Business Process Mapping process to document, map and standardize processes. Using every CMiC application, the two teams worked together to consolidate the data and tested the process by implementing six mini-conversions. All of this preparation, planning and effort helped minimize the impact on the end-users, all of whom saw no loss in functionality and no downtime.

"This project was a huge success," said Gord Rawlins, president, CMiC. "CMiC and JE Dunn worked together to convert, extract, map, and validate all of JE Dunn’s data, and with a company of JE Dunn’s size, this was an incredible undertaking. Both teams put in extra time and effort to complete this project, and regularly communicated to ensure its success. The accuracy rate was outstanding, and the JE Dunn and CMiC team deserve praise for their extra work and effort on this amazing accomplishment."

The One Dunn initiative also included the construction of a new headquarters for JE Dunn, in Kansas City, MO. The building is the first LEED Gold certified corporate headquarters building in Kansas City and houses the advanced technological infrastructure that JE Dunn uses to run CMiC software, which has increased operating and processing speed exponentially.

"The level of complexity associated with this huge project required the highest level of performance and communication. The JE Dunn/CMiC team exceeded all expectations in their successful completion of this project. Both teams are to be praised for their performance," said John Jacobs, CIO, JE Dunn Construction Company.

"CMiC would like to congratulate JE Dunn on the success of One Dunn," said Gord Rawlins, president, CMiC. "We look forward to working with JE Dunn and continuing to provide them with the best service, support and software solutions in the construction industry."
